FIRE BIRD


The design represent an altar with a cross and the

peyote herb in the foreground.

The cross represents the life.

The feathers above are of a flicker or yellow hammer

type. This bird is known as "Fire Bird." The Indians use it

to fan and incense themselves when sick with fever.

The long feathers are of a parrot type. The parrot is

known as a morning bird.
